Created on Jun 6, 2009 3:09 AM Return to sender, thanks for the compliment,no I have no interest in politics, besides I'd be a crunky leader expecting perfections to my co workers.Osa pa,nakakasilaw it salapi,I don't want my bare hands dirty,I'd rather farm simple as that.Quite content of my life for now.It lata nga matunog, waray sulod,di ba?Amo la ene it ak karuyag it paka ngiras. Ras,father Japson was once our parish priest in Lawaan to my recollection?Wow,I met his sister in Nene Abuda's house in California this year.Welcome to our new priest!Father Gacho was among my favorite, good luck to his new venture. Thanks again sa mga balita. Toma,Japan was only 3 hours away to Manila during the 60's.Breakfast in Tokyo, lunch in Manila with my barkada's who seems to enjoy food of different origin was once my favorite past time.Upon arrival in Manila airport,we remind everyone not to speak english nor japanese, otherwise the price will jack up tremendously as we will be considered tourists. Shame, shame, shame,my broken tagalog got mixed up with japanese, meaning we were in disguise as locals.Alistong waitress with sharp hearing knew exactly what to do,rise the bill to our surprise.Ha,ha,ha,I learned my lesson since then to practice our dialect before I leave the country. So you are two years behind us,Ihalas and I has so much things in common age and naughtiness ha,ha,ha.The best time in my life was during my elementary years of fun and laughter. Our group do not hardly sleep during fiestas. The boys protect the girls and vice versa.Sa kapilyohan,Ihalas was one of the champion.Haroy, nabutang hin salaming bawbaw han iya sapatos ngan kon hin-o an ira mahiling nga mali an kalingkod nga babaye,( boys)they will slide their feet under announcing the color of our underwears (girls) who ever stand up are in danger he,he,he.Takay,an akon panti kay luna ngan katsa nga hinoghog takas dawla hira, inarmidol pa nga natukdaw, pastelan. They used to tease me balhasanon, kay nagbabasa ngane ako ditha iskoylahan, guin babalhas an akon mga kamot, lotop naman ha libro.Hin upay gadla hadto kay we protect one another.Ihalas is a good person, karuyagon la doro han babaye kay doro it ka guapo. I remember apoy Onda,I used to eat in her house with Inay Suela who used to live in Giporlos but visit Lawaan at times to see her relatives. We usually spend the night at apoy Ando's house until Tatang Egoy built his house alongside the river husband of Nang Bene.We had no house in town nor a property to build a nepa hut.Inay Suela's properties ha Rawis and Tabok kinidar ni apoy Mateo tungod nga waray hiya pakaka bayad han iya otang nga tabacco hin 30 pesos.Amo dida pag lubngan hi Tang Kuwa ha Rawis nga buhi pa han kan Inay Suela tuna.Remember the ghost of Rawis? Kuwa was my mother only brother, nahi onong an iya kinabuhi hit nga mga hacienda han Gavan ngan Gadicho. Toma, sorry got carried away.Sorry also ngahe Mana Caro aadto na ngayean,I did not know, though I watch the video on that incident all was unrecognizable.Lee Gayda still has that video,so sad can't talk about that calamity,we cried for days and nights watching that video over and over unimaginable sadness to all lawananon. |

Created on Jun 6, 2009 5:55 AM Thanks, Im sure most folks will WELCOME another showcase of talents from our dearest friends and co Law-ananon. What a performance, I can hardly wait to see the next you tube video!!!! Thanks for sharing it with us. Ms Maria, lol :-) I don't think that's the case, it lata nga waray sulod matunog!!! If the tin is empty it will not make a noise at all but if you put an object inside and then shake it, it sure will make a sound and sometimes the noise turns out to be annoying in our ears. I think that saying is none other than a myth!!!! But then it depends how people define annoying!!! Just saying.... You're a grand woman and very funny. Salute to you. |

Created on Jun 6, 2009 9:04 PM Maria, This is like going back in time. I remember spending lots of fun times at Rawis, swimming, fishing, skipping flat rocks across the river. I always a sling shot with me, so had lots of fun with it too. The ghost you speak of was just part of the fun. We were told about the “INCANTO” also. Us kids wandered Rawis, across the river and all the way to Canlimbo. There was a big Balete tree at Canlimbo. Every time we came by it, we would ask permission to be there. We never got an answer from any one so we stayed for as long as we wanted. Again I remember those names you mentioned but still can’t put any faces to them. I used to visit Nanag Menying in Coticot a small town past Giporlos. We used to stop at a relative’s house by the river close to a bridge in Giporlos. These are some memories I can recollect. Grade school was a blast for me. I was an honor pupil till fourth grade. Fifth grade was the start of rebellion. I found out that I could skip school and be punished for it by being suspended for a few days up to a whole week. This meant more time for the fun stuff. Kuya Boy and I got to know one another really well in high school. We did stuff around town that mom never approved of. Kuya Boy was a bad influence because of the stuff we did (according to mom). I would hear this loud whistle at night, I knew who it was Kuya Boy signaling me that he was outside waiting for me. Even mom eventually got to know this whistle. After high school Kuya Boy went to Manila and I got to hang around with him for a little while there. Ate Caro has been in Chicago since 1964 or 1967. I do not know her current where about for I’ve had no communication with for a while now. ---------- "Pressure creates diamonds" Toma |

Created on Jun 6, 2009 9:22 PM Still has no clue who you are,can you give me signs that might trigger my timid memory? That would be more comforting to learn who I'm talking too. Thanks! The case of lata nga matunog waray sulod, others view it as it sounds. We have so many educated kabugtuans in Lawaan who are expert of our laws, the environment, constituents, management above all they live their.Besides that,if Nida is doing well, let her continue. What we can do is find solutions continue assisting our families the best we knew how.I encourage everyone to write to our congressmen and governors. They actually appreciate inputs how they can improve our province. They all are here in the internet, just type gov.ben evardone , the house of the representatives, you should be on the line.Good luck! |

Created on Jun 6, 2009 10:50 PM Toma, kan apoy Bonong balay, the house near the bridge of Giporlos was fun besides it was a coconut tree that swing to the water.I used to jump and mingle with the rest of the children who live there. That was our swimming pool during that time. Can't hardly recognize the place now.The bridge is solid concrete now, there house was rebuilt by his grandson who is here also in the U.S.My aunt Nang Milang and Nang Pawa used to live in Coticot the heir of the Padel's haciendas which is now sold to different families.I went to school first grade in Giporlos for awhile and live right close to apoy Bonong, then moved to Lawaan. We moved back and fort between Lawaan,Giporlos,Coticot,Paya,Gigoso,Guiuan,MCarthur,by foot on the muddy roads for days.Apoy Dosio was originally from Guiuan married apoy Carmena from Gigoso while apoy Kayong Padel originally from Giporlos married apoy Suela Gavan the only child of apoy Anacleto Gavan. This was the cause while we were on the road mostly of our adolescent lives visiting relatives.Apoy Suela will visit Lawaan once in awhile staying only a week or so cheered by her relatives loaded with goods being returned back to Giporlos by boat headed by apoy Ando mostly, sometimes by Tang Crispen if Tatay was busy. Fiestas in both Lawaan and Giporlos was once a big gathering to the families that last weeks or until they decide to leave.I remember grouping with apoy Onda on the way to Giporlos for a fiesta with Nay Rita for 3 days, lucky we have relatives on the way where we could rest, eat then continue our journey, but it was fun.I memorize the rosary on the way to Guiuan that last 6 lousy days.he,he,it only took us an hour by car now. By the way,Brengelda Sabungan, once my playmate, who is a granddaughter of apoy Bonong is here in Ontario,California.I was surprised to hear her voice now at her age of 64 is retired and well. She remember you the Bambi kid from Lawaan. We used to wonder if your skin and looks were for real,ha,ha,in fact she is on the phone with me now remembering the good old days.I think she was once a classmate of Ihalas in Balangiga.Small world.Ahhhh, too much to tell. |

Created on Jun 7, 2009 6:17 AM Edited Jun 7, 2009 6:18 AM Maria I have a few relatives there in California. Mana Aning Gayda in Los Angeles, Mana Nene Amon is some where in California. Bert Amano in San Diego and I think some of Mano Doming Amano children are there too. Mano Doming was a judge in Samar. Mana Charing Amon is in Illinios. This is the sister of Manong Fred Amon and Mana Nene Amon. I hear there folks from Lawa-an in Florida. I think some of the Abuda’s family are there too. I remember the Padels that live right next to the Gaydas and Mano Pio Diasantas first house across from Tatang Egie Inciso. Apoy Onda seems to have prayed a lot, she prayed every chance she got. Elsie Gayda one of Mana Aning’s daughter visited us here in Sugar Land a few years back. The guy she married is from the Houston Area. Romeo Gayda the oldest of the Gayda bunch is living in Virginia Beach city with his number two wife. I think his brother Lee is on wife number two also. I am still on my number one wife Isabel and we will celebrate our 36th this coming July. I think I’ll call her my number one wife……….nah, this will put me in the dog house, for sure. I think we made it this long for I always has the last word in my house “Yes Dear”…. I sent you a picture of me that was taken by a co-worker last week to the e-mail address you have listed in this forum. ---------- "Pressure creates diamonds" Toma |

Created on Jun 7, 2009 9:10 AM Toma, this is my e-mail # jules1946@verizon.net.Haven't got that picture yet unless my dear partner here delete the message. That was very thoughtful of you. Tang Noring Amano just had a surgery recently,he could not attend our fiesta last April due post recovery. He is doing well now.Mana Aning passed sometime ago.Lour Gayda is about an hour away from me.Lee haven't heard of him lately,he used to call me every now and then.Yeah,I met and mingle Lawananons her in California except Doming Amano and Nene Amon. Tang Tinoy Padel that live close to the Gayda's passed 7 years ago according to Luzveminda the youngest daughter who is in Maryland. There old house owned now by the Diasanta.Tang Tinoy was Nanay's first cousin. He was once our Lawaan policeman. Imagine,36 years is a long time to live with a person,in todays society its a blessing. Finally,I married Jules of 35 years after all the struggles and chalenges I faced during my adventure in this world live a full happy life content and fruitfull.I created 3 generations maybe more on the way to come. Glad you still remember the neighborhood we used to roam,Salog and Rawis our main playground seems to deteriorate the Meyapi trees are mostly gone. The huge white rocks and seashells had disappeared.Sand along the shoreline seems brown from pollution, but we gained nice homes in Tabok where I was born. I remember Mano Romy Amon who was always cheerful ,he used to carry me from the boat to the shore to avoid my feet from being wet during my vacations. His family is well blessed, can't remember Fred and Nene Amon.I think they left Lawaan earlier than me.I keep in touch with Jenny in UK Mano Romy's daughter and Dayday is our town Nurse that live close to our house in Lawaan. I was at the Abuda reunion last Feruary still related on apoy Josefa Abuda wife of Domingo Anano,Tatay Felix side, his grandmother. The Abuda's close to your area was Tatay's cousins that I don't know until the last 2 years during our local election came Victor Abuda to be a Mayor candidate asking Esing( my sister) for support.I'd been gone too long,I hardly recognized anyone.Took me awhile to figured out. Yeah, apoy Onda made me memorize the rosary in latin which I had mostly forgotten.Nanang Juliana assist on the english version also on the way to Guiuan when she ran away from her boyfriend Gaspar he,he,got all the gossips still intact. Our generation during fiesta was the best dressed with piticoat, high heels, decorated dresses with flowers women adorn with the best style balloon dresses glamourous and very beautiful.Remember the song "REMEMBER WHEN" awesome, men were all alert and gentle to their prospect as they rush to the dance floor to select their partner treated with respect and admiration. This is how you became a good family man, look at Ihalas, one man one woman, this is the forever love we used to call. |

Created on Jun 10, 2009 12:27 AM Ms Maria, often people discribe me as ' Clueless ' so it's not new that you don't have a clue who I am, I am not sure myself. You're a good lady and you remind us of the past, Remember when....?!? Very nostalgic and heartwarming, makes your heart beat faster. |
