Created on Nov 15, 2008 11:06 PM Good news people, finally our Mayor Nida Gabornes is on the news. She open a geotherma demo a rice field in Lawaan and made 137,500 pesos an income for the municipality, its like a rice nursery stateside.Lawaan now has rice to consume for its people and jobs to the farmers. This is what I'm talking about, produce first for the people, jobs and be sufficient just in case we have a typhoon, stock up those rice for rainy days.We have our natural resources intact why not use it?They can do more, coffee grew like weeds, cocoa, camote and all those tropical plants grew everywhere.Tacloban open a company for herbs, plant this in Lawaan to market it to this companies. Now, if Gov.Ben Evardone and Congressman Doloy Coquilla will provide, help Lawaan with infrastructures to the farms for San Isidro, this could be a permanent venture and income for our people a vital part of progress. My talkativeness may had been useful after all, it encourages them to think that food should be the first priority to initiate rather than a building.Fishery of all kinds should be in mind for Lawaan, tilapia that multiply on fresh water a must produce for San Isidro where brooks, lakes and rivers are abundant. This can be done through proper motivation and leadership with a minimum assistance allowing them to have jobs sustaining income for their families. Adult education and training programs for the farmers, those unfortunate unable to finish school training financially incapacitated should be subsidize by our town. Congratulation to Nida Gabornes for a successful venture, monies well spent.Herbs, herbs, and more herbs can be the most profitable to all. |

Created on Nov 16, 2008 4:01 PM I suggest, our government has so many projects. I wonder why Lawa-an do not avail of these projects. Reach out to DOLE, DTi, TESDA, DOT etc.... Thet are ever willing to help those who are interested. Even the Japanese try our JICA, they donate equipment.... UNDP, ILO, UNICEF..... so many.... I can't enumerate..... reach out, be creative, let lawa-an be self suficient. If people are working together they become one... no poor no rich...// I am happy to see that day... I an even see it now. |

Created on Nov 16, 2008 10:56 PM Sandalphon, it take lots of guts to do all this things. We have all the previledges ,available from the united nation, unicef, the U.S. all over the world that will assist on this type of program. Our resources are there ready to be cultivated but lack of ideas, motivation, encouragement educating the people to what are the available products that will grow well in our area.I can name a few plants like coffee and cocoa that can be planted alongside the mountainous areas, actually thousands can be utilize, designate each barangays and mobilize this into action. Those town employees,Law-ananons are smart, industreous people with proper decipline will be successful if manage properly.Imagine, tobacco grow in Lawaan like weeds, this could be a large money maker for the people which is also serve as a medicinal ingredients in chemistry mix with other herbs as a pain killer.Vinegar from coconut juice and sabawan are both vital to preserve food,a medicinal form of decreasing fever, the best among the best vinegar that I knew of with so many usage. We have the most organic soil that do not need chemicals to grow our plants. Those tree leaves buried deep to the surface rot providing nutrients to the soil serve the best fertilizer, chicken manure, carabao, cow waste when maximize are essential. The old technique of farmer is the best. I hope our Law-ananon friends will remain open minded for sharing ideas to their families and friends educating them what they have learned from abroad assisting them what can be done to avoid poverty.Like I say, motivation, encouragement and hardwork are they key to success. My participation to this forum may encourage everyone to share ideas to our desperate families what can be done to improve their lives that may oneday self sufficient.Sandalphon, thank you for sharing your thoughts. |

Created on Nov 17, 2008 11:36 AM I do agree with you...In my ten years of experience in dealing with people and in working with people in and out the Office I know theoritically and practically where good visions and dreams dies... At first policitian have good dreams and bright visions but slowly the are eaten up by their sorroundings. In japanese they call it "MA-AI" or fighting distance, but i call it "healthy distance". when the distance between two people are too far it is nothing, when so close it is also nothing... to maintain a good distance will alway create a good relationship built on trust and respect... too far a distance = each become a stranger to each other too near = nepotism, relatives/friends come in. healthy distance - so that people will respect us and we respect them, they trust us as we trust them... i know some who possess this quality...if ever i meet one i will recognize him easily. i think people of lawaan will accept change.... only if they see that the change is sincere not a supeficial... |

Created on Dec 18, 2008 10:07 PM MAUPAY NGA PASKO SA LAHATPRACTICE MAKES EVERYONE PERFECT. I believe that, for me, Lawananon are fast learners. We don't need much to accomplish anything in life. For some, we may need a little help. Lawaan is still the best place to raise young family kahit esang kahig esang tuka ang buhay. I was not so lucky to be in the place, but I always picture myself in it, always proud that I'm from a place like Lawaan. The lord has its own calling for all & me. |
