Created on Aug 8, 2008 1:07 AM School teachers, city hall, balikbayans properties and homes.Income taxes on farms, with income or without income.Do you know that our taxes this year have increased to 150% according to a source from Beta-og?She just paid her house taxes delinquent 2007 and now 2008 a hefty 24 thou a 3 bedrooms home in Beta-og,plus a penalty for 2007 late taxes.Asia ene in barrio nga ala siudad it sukot. My taxes this year went down to 14 thou, a 3 years old rebuilt house kay it mga pader is also taxed. After 5 years, the house taxes will decrease again. It problema, ene nga nasukot hit mga taxes, eguin lilista kada pag re-renovate hit balay, example it pag pintura or maintenance hit balay kon ano it bag-o nga guin ayad,it will be tax.Dida ha aton munocepio it problema, not Borongan people.Guin babantayan kon hin-o it may ibarayad. Di bali it pag pa dako hit balay ig tax, piro ene nga pag pintura ngan rennovation and pader is a big question mark.Dire Borongan it mga manloloko, kundi aton la guihap mga kabogto-an ha bongto pala nga Lawa-an. Bis dinhe ha U.S.just for rennovation purposes do not get permit from the city hall.Piro ha Lawa-an,may permit kay han akon pagpa rennovate,a hefty 15 thou.Naka paskin an permit ha karsada.Tulo ako ka beses nagpa rennovate, tulo ka beses liwat ako kuha han permit. Note: Borongan doesn't inspect or know those homes in Lawa-an.These crooks live in our own backyards and they are our own relatives and friends.Maka arawod gad ene nga aton kasugad. Unemployment of Lawa-an is 35 to 50 %. |

Created on Nov 1, 2008 12:26 PM Good to hear from you..... When a state/province/city/municipality/barrio make a way of living thru toooooo much taxation, thus burdening its citizens for payment thereof...... that is a sign of: 1. harassment, 2. not qualified to handle the financail affairs of the lgu, 3. lack of creativeness: managerial and political skills 4. downfall of the lgu... because it will create chaos instead of participation. |

Created on Nov 8, 2008 12:16 AM Unless you open a business an example is your talent of dressmaking,ba-a waray trabaho. In able to live and survive in Lawaan, must be retired a secured income untouchable by our local government. What happened to the kumustahan blog? I really enjoy visiting that site.By the way Mindy, did you see Ramon Gavan's picture at the New York Times? He also sent me one, very proud of him. Mr. Sandalphon, howdy to you too.I think our local government made a big mistake of utilizing tripling our taxes to the maximum, while some residences could barely afford to make ends met, absolutely a burden for so many people. They were thinking of relying a large sum from balikbayans unfair and could be against the law.If one decide to pay their taxes in Borongan instead of Lawaan, this cut one's payment almost in half. How could this be?This means Lawaan pocket half of my taxes without any explainnation to the clients?Their mistake is,balikbayans are not that stupid, all my friends that wanted to reside in Lawaan bought properties and homes in Cebu with lower taxes, better roads, close to shopping centers more convenient to hospitals and a decent neighborhood.Greed remain an issue on politics without realizing the consequences that might cause more harm than good. Sad,very sad. |

Created on Nov 12, 2008 3:36 PM Good to hear from you M. Anano. You have a great vision and a great reason. Good people are rare of course.... Politics...yes it is good and wonderful... but in the olden days... Here this story.... "Harvard professors in political science once visited the Genessee trappist abbey hoping to incorporate politics and religion. They approached abbot John Eudes. Fr. John Eudes is a doctor of medicine, a doctor in psychology, a priest, and an abbot. " Fr. John Eudes told these word to them: 'Politician must knows what lies ahead....has a great vision, big dreams and compassion....to have that he must be a man of knowledge, a lover of wisdom... Therefore a "politician must be a philosopher". But what's happening to our beloved town Lawa-an. The same roads 20 years ago... the same market 10 years ago....... the same ... the same...the same structures... of faces are very very new to me... |

Created on Nov 13, 2008 12:39 AM Yes,new faces,50 years old town approaching.During the past 49 years as a town have less food problem, less malnutrition to our children and less frustrations to where food on the table is coming from.Although infrastructures did not exist, hard working farmers form araglayon love of thy neighbors, integrity, share ideas how they can provide their families needs, share their crops to one another and protect each others from harm.It was a pride to have lived in a small town full of decent people with jealousy unhate. Old roads with potholes neglected by our local leaders is an eye soaring sight, endanger our children as will as adults.Did you happened to see our ailing, deteriorating municipal building?Pres.Arroyo passed through our town last Sept.not noticing this sight and why?Our congressman Doloy Coquilla and Gov.Ben Evardone ignore the tasteless management of our town appears without solutions? Commonsense dictated that they are part of the problems along with the Mayor and councillors?Cover ups from relatives, comadres, compadres, otang na loob friends halt the process of improvements, vote buying enhance corruptions therefore our town will always be distitute. You are right,a leader must posses with great visions, compassion, integrity, honesty, knowledge with commonsense a must, great conviction,a leader concern of the new generations future, open to the massa, serve all constituents to the best of her knowledge. Not just through her relatives and her own party but to all.We may wonder why our island is occupied by rebellious NPA's?Its the facts of promises from politicians ignored, never to be mention after elections. Priests remain neutral while some have sacrificed, involved themselves in improving their community, some so formally educated but lack of participating in planning of improving the needy relying only with open arms for donations from the said, balikbayans. He may enjoy his hubbies, relaxes in his donated convent await for more donations while some poor children starving in the streets? Another sad case! |

Back in the days, when only hundreds residence, its easyer to manage the community. It's even difficult, when there's no law & order. Solotions: Law manangement, clean up preserve town & water way.
