Good to see your stories...

Lot of memories..... goog old days..... memories when remembered like living for a second time around....we cant' help but smile....flying across the time.....and then live again.....

That's the wonder of being human......a part in us that longs for eternity.. the deepest part in us that holds yesterdays, the todays and the forever. that part in us that embraces everything that is good and beautiful.... people, places events.... that penetrates time and place and gather them into the "NOW" - reality

But how come?.....Why it become different now? Questions?? We live now but longs for yesterdays.....Why the future no longer promise for a better tommorow..? and the more we live longer..the more we feel of getting far away....Far away from?? And the farther we go the nearer is the place we left behind.. What it is? Going home??? Where....?????

What a subtle seduction.....everything is defined by this new/modern paganism..... this materialism.... this secularism... this new/modern philosopies....

How come?.... the once beautiful human being becomes a human "Having" and/or human "Doing"...

It is almost a contagious disease.... Just look carefully to yourself....when you go home.... How do you treat people there? and how do they treat you? The environ is no longer the same because the people are no longer the same....

Why are they no longer the same people as you were before?.... the answer is in you.....

Life have changed while deep inside may remain memories of the past so unforgettable a mystery how did we survive from this cruel world? Our town's improvement so slow from corruptions unable to find a proper leader who will abide our laws, that will sacrifice for the will being of its people?Progress remain a mystery to those poor souls, weak, ignored and often neglected by our LGU's (local government unit).Look at San Isidro a barangay of Lawaan above the hill?Poverty, poor sanitations, education of their children absolutely forgotten by our LGU while they cheer and rejoice for their said power who only remember this people during election for their votes to power is critical to win?Local leaders who vow and promises of infrastructure every election gone with the wind? How will this hard working people improve when their produce is still being transported from their backs for hours to town? How can our government improve their green reform programs, fertilizers suppose to be for the farmers being distributed only to their own parties and families?Pork barrel being pocketed by this corrupt politicians as they eagerly build a portion of roads so that one can see monies will spent, the rest of pork barrel divided between this corrupt leaders proudly spend it personally. Our history proved sometime ago, that some of our Mayors had been suspended from corruption, some had been replaced, yet no one learn a lesson.Due to nepotism (relatives to relatives) generation to generations of power, weaker are getting weaker, compadre, comadre, otang na loob form of government must be eliminated among Law-ananons for the sake of prosperity, future of our new generations to come. Our 50th anniversary is approaching as a town for 50 years or more of distitutions filled with embarrassment of cheating corruptions to this leaders remain proud of their positions. Its a shame.Read the history of our legendary Mayors and their accomplishments, facts are not hidden while their families suffer of shameful controversial from their wrong doing being repeated by some of their generation? When are we going to change Law-ananons?Pity to those who govern with shameful reputations.Law-ananons are being used as scapegoats by this corrupted leaders.

You are absolutely wrong Mr.Sandalphon.The proper answer is we the people of Lawaan has to change, search proper solutions, share ideas, abolish corruptions, instead of criticizing each other.Listen to inputs, views of others, read our political histories from the beginning of time till now,who governed our town only to be abusive in power and pulled up corruptions unstoppable while constituents beliefs of vote buying goers a heredity to all? The only chance for them to taste their said efforts, for two hundred pesos to them can buy a couple ganta of rice, one can of salmon and a cigarette.Their only chance to feel powerful,be recognize by this politicians, for they knew once political leaders are elected, promises are forgotten. My main purpose of participating on this forum is to enhance everyone, educate our families to be fair, vigilant, select a candidate that will abide our laws, integrity, honest, commonsense, must do the best of his/her ability with great convictions who will promote improvements, infrastructures, adult education trainings, eliminate illiteracy, promote local businesses, free health programs to the needy, wake up our governor and congressman for assistance. These are just some of my concerns to our people who are shy to voice out, fair from being harassed by our local leaders, those who remain silent of choice, those helpless malnourished children neglected by our government, where are this programs? A Mayor who will empower such programs for the people, who will create some ways of employments to all.

I remain a pundit using my ball point that may encourage our leaders and recognize the needs of our people who are desperate, starving for peace, tranquility, improvements, infrastructures, stand for leadership as constituents may follow.I humbly encourage Law-ananons to start the process now who will be the best candidates of positions starting from barangay leaders and above.Sweep the municipal building, start new leaders who will abide and fight for our cause.

Christmas caroling is the most I've missed since I left during the 60's.Imagine the 10 centavo's I received from house to house caroling was such a pleasure and very much appreciated to buy a dress for my folk dance in school.Today,10 centavos is just a part of a peso.

My friends,Law-ananon happy holidays,my special greetings to you Sentimental.

Christmas caroling is a tradition of a worldwide proportion. For a Christian country like the Philippines, it will always be a part of the celebration. Since this thread is more on reminiscing the last fifty years or more, during my lost innocent age in Lawaan , when electricity was still decades away in the future, Christmas was in a way our version of a season of lights glowing on most windows and facade in a form of home-made star, artistically adorn, highlighting the hidden talent of the maker, with a candle stick, (lit after sunset) strategically placed in the middle cavity so as not to burn the highly flammable paper or plastic wrapping that makes up its outer coverings and decorations. There were instances of “stars” catching fire (from the candle), becoming the talk of the town the very next day.

During Halloween, when we have to dole out candies and other assortments to kids knocking at our doorstep trick or treating, it always reminds me of our Christmas caroling tradition. Less the costumes and pumpkins, the similarity is so close; the spirit of giving is at its best and the joy and satisfaction that come on both sides.

I’m not sure if they still do it today, but on my childhood days, not all caroling were done after dark and before bedtime. There was this unique type of caroling that was done early morning, when even the roosters are just getting ready to announce the coming of a new day. It was such a pleasure listening to Christmas melodies in “waray waray”, sang in such a glorious harmony and listening to it while still comfortably tucked in bed or hard wooden floor in a banig for us less fortunate and you’re only fear is that the music is somehow going to end. I later learned that the singers were usually parents and teachers , other groups from the barrios and that a messenger actually roam around the town the day before to ask for permission from the prospective hosts- perhaps to give them a chance to rein dogs that bite and to prepare a more generous gift.

One time my mother decided to spend her Christmas in Lawaan and before her departure, she noticed the left-over candies from Halloween and some more from her grandchildren’s trick or treating. She brought all the goodies with her to give away to kids back home on Christmas. I guess she got more what she bargained for. Her generosity in the form of “dolse nga stateside”( as the kids fondly called it) ,quickly spread during the caroling season. Night after night, throngs of kids frequented our house, at one point three to four groups in queue, patiently waiting for their turn. To accommodate everyone, she started mixing it with local candies and she was so amused hearing the kids saying “ tagi gad kami hit “stateside” while handing them candies once their caroling is over. She must have love it so much that she always look forward to it whenever she decides to spend her X-mas back home. Such a small price to make a lot of children happy.

Buenas Noches caroling was one of my favorite type as we the carolers awaken the dawn hour awakening the whole sitio of Lawaan while our voices echoe breaking the light of morning sunlight as christ was borned after twelve midnight shone a sparkling star to his menger while amazed viewers whisper that christ our savior is born.

Maupay nga pasko kamo ngatanan law-ananon.Welcome 2009.

Mrs. Anano are you aware of yourself that you are always making comments in the forum of lawaan and yet you did not occasionally visiting lawaan. Have pity on you. Before you judge anything about the situation in lawaan, look at first your contributions and your being so malasakit that in any sense of your comments will benefit the lawananons and the rest of the people came from lawaan in the United States of America. I know for a fact that you have a good life in that country but are you aware of the life of the people living in lawaan. Just be considerate and be sensitive to the feelings of others. Buti pa nga mga pulitiko na sinisiraan mo ay nakakatulong sa mga tao. Ikaw daldal ka ng daldal may naitrutulong ka ba dito. Buti ka pa nga masarap buhay mo dyan. Tingnan mo muna pinang galingan mo.People will just always beleive the person kung sini nakakatulong sa kanila. Khit pa bukas mag election at kumandidato ka di ka mananalo kasi di ka kilala dito sa lawaan. Kaya goodluck na lang sayo. GOD BLESS YOU.
